You Can Move On

In response to those who tell you that you should stay at your church even when church people hurt you because “You are there for God, not people,” or that “Every church is full of sinners,” you could respond by saying…

Nothing.

Noth-ing.

You don’t owe them or anyone an explanation.

You don’t need to list the ways you’ve been hurt.

You don’t need to justify to anyone why you are leaving a toxic situation.

Why you need separation from the abuse and abusers to heal.

Why you actually DON’T meet God there. That you meet God a thousand other places.

And by the way, that God is not confined to a building and you can be with him any dang place you please, thank you very much.

To sum up.

You do not need to stay at a church that’s harmed you.

God does not use guilt, shame, manipulation, or control to keep you in any situation, much less a harmful one.

YOU CAN MOVE ON.

You can change your mind, your church, your people.

You can go where you are 100% accepted for who you are.

GO ANYWHERE YOU WANT.

YOU get to choose.

And isn’t that freeing?
