The Vashti Initiative will pair those leaving or struggling during their transition phase with experienced survivors and volunteers. Mentors will be available to offer emotional support and guidance on the basics of navigating a new world. This service is still in development as we are seeking volunteers with personal experience in leaving an Adverse Religious Environment to step in as peer mentors.
You can request to join as a mentor or other agency volunteer by clicking the button below
Our virtual support groups meet via Zoom and offer many of the same benefits as a traditional support group. Moderators and peer supporters are ready to be put in place to protect the confidentiality of participants and to provide support. Sunday Support is our first group and is now available on Sunday afternoons/evenings for those who self idenitfy as survivors of religious or spiritual abuse.
One of the hardest things about leaving an adverse religious environment is assimilating to the culture around you. Our Culture Clubs will provide a fun, safe, and educational space for survivors. Groups will cover a variety of topics from popular books and media to fashion trends and more! The public launch of this service is TBA.
You are not alone! Read the stories of other individuals who have suffered spiritual or religious abuse and are now willing to share the journey of how they rebuilt their lives.
The Vashti Initiative hosts a private Facebook group specifically for healing from religious and spiritual trauma. We also refer survivors to groups that may more specifically serve their needs. You can find our private group by going through our main Facebook page
